5 Tips to Help You Grow Your Social Media Audience

5 Tips to Help You Grow Your Social Media Audience

The number one question I get from clients and students, both online and in person, has to do with growing their audience on social media. How can I grow my following? What are the best ways to get people to engage with my posts? Should I be using Facebook or Twitter more? By following these 5 tips, you’ll be able to grow your social media audience in a way that makes sense for your business goals, fits your budget and schedule, and allows you to have fun sharing on social media!

1) Never stop posting on social media

Don’t worry about posting too much or too little. The easiest way to keep your followers engaged is by always posting new and exciting things for them to see. Experiment with posting different times throughout the day and see what works best for your audience. Whether you post once a day or multiple times per day, never stop updating your followers so they feel like they can rely on you to provide new content consistently. Connect other social accounts: If you have another social media account that you use regularly, make sure to connect it to your Facebook page. This will allow all of your posts from one account to be shared across all of your accounts at once. For example, if you have an Instagram account that has more than 10k followers, make sure it is connected to your Facebook page so that every time you share something on Instagram it will also be posted as a status update on Facebook. This will help increase traffic on both of these platforms simultaneously. Use hashtags: Hashtags are not just used in Twitter and Instagram! When sharing something through Facebook make sure that any relevant hashtags are included in each post.

2) Research hashtags

When building your social media audience, it’s helpful to research which hashtags you can use to get your content discovered. Using relevant and popular hashtags can help your audience discover you, but using too many or irrelevant ones may seem spammy. To avoid both of these pitfalls, learn how to create a hashtag strategy that makes sense for your brand and fits into your digital marketing efforts. It’s also important to note that certain platforms don’t support all available hashtags—for example, Instagram limits users to 30 tags per post—so keep an eye on what works best on each platform. Include two images: It helps your message stand out when you include two images in addition to text—and one image should be more visually appealing than just words alone. For example, if you want to share information about a new product launch, try posting an image of your product with some details included in text underneath it. Or if you want to share information about upcoming events at your business location, try sharing photos of those events as they take place with some details included in text beneath them.

3) Interact with influencers in the same niche

Interacting with influencers in your industry is a great way to build relationships and cultivate a broad audience. Influencers are often looking for ways to grow their own audiences and engage new people, so they’ll welcome genuine engagement on social media channels. As you start building your following, search out those who might be able to help you reach a larger audience—and then genuinely engage with them! Find interesting pieces they’ve written or answer questions they’ve asked in public forums. When you do that, you make it clear that you have an interest in helping others as well as yourself. If you want to sound like you know what you’re talking about, avoid using buzzwords without understanding what they mean.

4) Join groups and communities

social media

A good place to start with digital marketing is joining groups and communities. The internet is a great resource, but so is talking in person with people who are interested in your topic—it’s much easier to make relationships that lead to friendships and partnerships. No matter what industry you’re working in, there are likely multiple communities out there where you can find like-minded people who would love to hear about what you do, as well as share information with one another. If you don’t know where to start, try searching for local meetups or attend conferences related to your field; if nothing else, it will be a fun way to network! Promote others: Don’t just promote yourself! When sharing content on social media, focus on promoting others and giving them credit. For example, if someone tweets something that inspires you, tweet it out to your audience (with credit!) and tell them why you liked it. This builds goodwill between yourself and other members of your community while also growing yours through exposure.

5) Create unique and high-quality content

When it comes to social media, you’ve only got one chance to make a good first impression—and even then, your followers won’t be able to stop scrolling. They have a short attention span for social media, so whatever you post has got to be engaging and entertaining. The quality of your content is paramount! It doesn’t matter how many followers you have if they don’t like what they see on their feed. Remember that high-quality content takes time, but it will pay off in spades when people start sharing what you post with their friends and family. If you don’t have time to create great posts yourself, try hiring a freelancer or using an online tool such as Fiverr or Upwork (formerly oDesk) to get help from someone else who can. There are plenty of talented writers out there who are looking for work. Just make sure they know exactly what kind of writing you need before assigning them work, because some freelance writers may not understand your industry very well. It’s all about making connections: Just like in real life, relationships are everything on social media.

Social media is a powerful tool that can help you grow your audience and promote your brand. However, simply creating social media profiles and posting content is not enough. To effectively grow your social media audience, you need to have a well-rounded strategy that involves consistency, research, and engagement.

One important aspect of social media is understanding your target audience and choosing the right platforms to focus on. Depending on your brand and niche, certain platforms may be more effective for reaching your desired audience. For example, if you are a beauty blogger, Instagram and Pinterest may be better options than Twitter.

Another important element of growing your social media audience is creating unique and high-quality content. This includes both visual and written content. Take the time to craft engaging captions, use eye-catching graphics, and provide valuable information that your followers will find useful and entertaining.
Researching hashtags is also crucial to expanding your reach on social media. Using relevant hashtags can help your content show up in searches and be seen by a larger audience. Take the time to research popular and niche-specific hashtags to incorporate into your posts.

In addition, engaging with influencers and other accounts in your niche can also help you grow your social media audience. Leave thoughtful comments, share their content, and participate in collaborations and campaigns to get your name and brand in front of their followers.
Finally, joining groups and communities on social media can also help you connect with like-minded individuals and grow your audience. Participate in relevant discussions and offer value to the group to build relationships and establish yourself as an authority in your niche.
Overall, growing your social media audience takes time and effort, but with consistency, research, and engagement, you can effectively reach new followers and promote your brand.
